Construction of a Prefabricated Modular Building for a Thermal Disinfection and Decontamination Station for Pathogenicity Groups III–IV Effluents

01.09.2025

INEX specialists have finalized the development and assembly of the UTOS-1-1000 thermal effluent decontamination system (EDS) for an anti-plague center. The unit is engineered for the sterilization of wastewater containing Pathogenic Biological Agents (PBA) of Hazard Groups I–IV (Russian classification). It is specifically designed for application in infectious disease hospitals, veterinary institutions, microbiological laboratories, and high-containment research centers.

The UTOS-1-1000 is a fully automated complex integrated with all necessary engineering utilities. During the design phase, INEX implemented specific measures to eliminate cross-contamination: the system features individual effluent collection pathways and mandatory rinsing protocols after each decontamination cycle. Operations are managed automatically, with key parameters displayed via a centralized dispatch system and a data archive maintained for three years.

Technical Performance and Efficiency: The thermal decontamination process occurs at temperatures no lower than 143°C and pressures up to 0.6 MPa, with a minimum holding time of 8 minutes. Significant economic efficiency is achieved through a proprietary thermal energy recovery system based on a new type of shell-and-tube heat exchanger. This innovation has reduced energy consumption by over 60%, with the unit consuming only 20 kW in its active operating mode.

By optimizing the thermal circuit and implementing this innovative recovery scheme, the UTOS-1-1000 supports an "overkill" mode at 155°C. This capability ensures the effective sterilization of wastewater containing highly dangerous pathogens under the most stringent safety protocols.

Technological Sovereignty: The unit is assembled entirely using equipment from Russian manufacturers. Control and monitoring are implemented via OWEN domestic controllers, utilizing specialized proprietary software. Currently, the UTOS-1-1000 has no direct analogues in the Russian Federation or neighboring EAEU countries.

Regulatory Compliance (RF and Engineering Standards)

  • SanPiN 3.3686-21: Regarding the handling of Hazard Group I–IV pathogens and mandatory liquid waste decontamination.

  • GMP-based Validation: The system is designed for full Qualification (IQ / OQ / PQ), ensuring reproducible "overkill" sterilization cycles.

  • Industrial Safety Codes: Compliance with pressure vessel and high-temperature equipment regulations.
