Airlocks

Air locks serve as the primary barrier in cleanroom infrastructure, ensuring protection against contaminant ingress during the movement of personnel and materials. INEX supplies a wide range of air lock solutions—from air showers for personnel to transfer chambers for materials—engineered in strict accordance with GMP requirements and ISO 14644 standards.

Personnel Air Locks (Air Showers)

Air showers are designed for the active removal of aerosol particles from personnel clothing before entering clean zones (ISO Class 5 to ISO Class 8). This is a critical stage that minimizes the biological and mechanical load on the sterile environment.

Key Features:

  • Active Cleaning: High-velocity jets of filtered air are delivered through adjustable nozzles to effectively blow away surface contaminants and carbon dust.

  • HEPA Recirculation: The ventilation system operates in a closed-loop cycle using high-efficiency filters.

  • Safety Interlocking: Automatic interlocking prevents both doors from opening simultaneously, maintaining the pressure cascade and preventing direct air transfer between zones.

  • Hygienic Design: A hermetic, all-welded steel housing with chemical-resistant coating and double-glazed doors ensures ease of disinfection and smooth surfaces.

Material Transfer Hatches (Pass-Throughs)

Transfer hatches are used to move raw materials, semi-finished products, and tools between rooms of different cleanliness classes. Thanks to the modular INEX principle, the dimensions and shapes of the chambers can be adapted to individual customer requirements.

Configuration Options:

  • Passive Hatches: Basic protection featuring a door interlocking system and integrated UV irradiation for surface disinfection.

  • Active Hatches: Equipped with independent blowing cycles, air filtration systems, and UV lamps, transforming the chamber into a self-cleaning zone.

Functional Capabilities:

  • Visual and audible indicators for cycle status (Available/Busy/Sterilization).

  • All-welded stainless steel housing with radius corners for easy mechanical cleaning.

  • Optional integration with Access Control Systems (ACS) and specialized pharmaceutical windows.

Validation and Compliance

The reliability of automation and disinfection processes is confirmed through comprehensive validation:

  • GMP Annex 11: Guarantees the reliability of software and electronic records in air lock control systems.

  • GAMP 5 (Good Automated Manufacturing Practice): Automation system development and implementation follow the risk-based method according to ISPE recommendations.

  • ISO 14644-4: Compliance with the principles of design and commissioning of controlled environments.

Integration of INEX air lock systems allows for the automation of logistics within the cleanroom, minimizing the "human factor" influence on the stability of the technological process.
