Abbott has officially received a registration certificate from the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare (Roszdravnadzor) for its laboratory-based serological test designed to detect SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibodies. This milestone allows Russian healthcare providers to accurately identify individuals who have previously been infected with the novel coronavirus, even if they were asymptomatic or never received a molecular (PCR) test.
Clinical Accuracy & Reliability: The Abbott SARS-CoV-2 IgG test has undergone rigorous validation by leading global laboratories. A significant study published in the Journal of Clinical Microbiology confirmed the test’s exceptional performance:

99.9% Specificity: Ensuring an extremely low rate of false positives by specifically targeting the nucleocapsid protein of the virus.

100% Sensitivity: Successfully identifying IgG antibodies in every patient tested 17 days or more after the initial onset of symptoms.
Technology & Capacity: The test is designed to run on Abbott’s established ARCHITECT® i1000SR and i2000SR laboratory systems. These platforms utilize Chemiluminescent Microparticle Immunoassay (CMIA) technology to provide high-speed, automated results.

Infrastructure in Russia: Over 500 ARCHITECT® systems are already operational in clinical laboratories across Russia, spanning both the public and private sectors.

High Throughput: Each system is capable of performing between 100 and 200 tests per hour, allowing for large-scale population screening and immunity assessments.
