Microbiological safety boxes of II "A" class 2

Microbiological safety boxes of II "A" class 2

Purpose and Biological Containment

Class II Type A2 Biological Safety Cabinets (models SLS-BMB 1.2 AM / 1.5 AM / 1.8 AM) are designed to provide simultaneous protection for the operator, the product, and the environment. These units are critical for procedures involving microorganisms and pathogenic agents transmitted via airborne droplets. The equipment is extensively used in medical, pharmaceutical, and research laboratories handling Pathogenic Biological Agents (PBA) of hazard groups III–IV.

Construction and Functional Features

The working zone is constructed from high-grade stainless steel, while the external body is made of powder-coated steel profiles. The air purification system utilizes a multi-stage approach:

  • Model 1.2 AM: Equipped with two H14 HEPA filters.

  • Models 1.5 AM and 1.8 AM: Equipped with three H14 HEPA filters.

Purified air is delivered to the working zone as a downward laminar flow. Approximately 70% of the air is recirculated, while the remaining 30% is exhausted through secondary H14 filters to prevent the escape of contaminated air into the laboratory. The cabinet includes a 30W UV irradiator for bio-decontamination, LED lighting, a stainless steel shelf, and a laminarity-enhancing micro-mesh.

The front panel is made of 6° inclined tempered safety glass with a counterweight system. For safety, if the panel is raised beyond 200 mm, the UV lamp automatically deactivates, and a visual/audible alarm is triggered.

Automation and Control

The integrated microprocessor control system allows users to set airflow velocities and manage lighting, ventilation, and decontamination cycles. A key feature is the automatic compensation system that maintains stable airflow parameters regardless of the level of filter clogging.

Ergonomics and Operation

The cabinets are designed for long-term operator comfort, featuring low noise levels and optimized light distribution. Models are available with either manual or electric front glass actuators.

Compliance and Validation

These Class II Type A2 cabinets undergo rigorous validation and comply with international standards for biosafety and ISO 14644-1 (ISO Class 5) for sterile zones.
