The milestone V All-Russian GMP Conference officially launched on September 30, 2020, successfully transitioning to a fully virtual format. Despite the international travel restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the event preserved its international status, featuring regulators from 16 foreign nations and representatives from all EAEU member states on its opening day.
The digital transition proved to be a catalyst for engagement, attracting nearly 2,500 industry professionals. During the peak sessions, more than 1,500 viewers simultaneously engaged with live broadcasts streamed from a high-tech television studio in Moscow.
A Strategic Vision for Healthcare: The conference opened with a personal welcome from the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov. Under the motto "Unified GxP Rules — Quality for the Benefit of Health," the forum highlighted that the quality of medicines and medical devices must remain uncompromised even during global crises.
Key Discussion Pillars:
-
Crisis Management: Addressing the surge in demand for critical care medications such as anesthetics, antibiotics, and medical oxygen.
-
Remote Inspections: Industry leaders, including MSD and Roche, shared their successful experiences passing virtual GMP inspections during lockdowns—a new standard in regulatory oversight.
-
Unified Market: Strategies for transitioning to unified EAEU registration rules and assessments of national producers' competence in manufacturing full-cycle Active Pharmaceutical Substances (APS).
-
International Cooperation: For the first time, an OECD representative participated, alongside strategic meetings between Russian pharma companies and trade missions from China, India, Brazil, Morocco, Cuba, and the Netherlands.
Collaborative Industry Support: The success of the 2020 anniversary event was made possible through strong industry partnerships:
-
General Partner: MSD Pharmaceuticals.
-
Strategic Partners: Gedeon Richter and Roche.
-
Official Partners: Teva, Astellas Pharma, and Amgen.
-
Special Partners: Abbott and Natsimbio.
